Sweet Cherry Body Butter For Your Valentine

Cherry Body Butter Recipe

Show your Valentine how much you love them by whipping up this easy Sweet Cherry Body Butter. This body butter is a great match for the Cherry Sugar Scrub I shared earlier this week. If you have never used or made a homemade body butter, keep in mind that a little goes a long way, and if the temperature in the air is too warm it may liquefy. Please don’t let that deter you from trying your hand at making your own!! I love making my own beauty products and I love knowing exactly what the ingredients are in them!

Sweet Cherry Body Butter For Your Valentine

Here is what you will need:

1/2 cup Shea Butter

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

1/4 cup Grapeseed Oil

1 to 2 teaspoons Cherry Extract

Combine and melt butters. You can melt them in the microwave (30 to 45 seconds) or by using a double boiler. Once melted, place in a cool place and let firm up just a bit. I usually put mine in the refrigerator or freezer for this process. Just make sure you keep an eye on it. You don’t want to forget about it and have it freeze. Once it has solidified a bit, use your electric mixer, and whip the body butter. Add the cherry extract and whip until fully blended. Place in jar of your choice.

A little about the ingredients:

Shea Butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree, which grows in Western Africa. It has been used for generations to help keep the skin from being dry, as well as protecting it from the UV rays of the sun. It also is known to heal many skin problems, minor cuts and burns.

Coconut Oil is made from the dried kernel (meat) of the coconut. It is loaded with Vitamin E and fatty acids, which are anti-fungal, anti-oxidizing and anti-bacterial. This is one of my favorite go-to oils. I love the way it smells and feels on my skin. It is great for you inside and out.

Grapeseed Oil is extracted from grape seeds that have  already been used to make wine. This is also one of my favorite oils to use in my homemade products. It doesn’t have a scent,  it absorbs into the skin quickly, and it has antioxidant powers.
