Interview with Xander ~ King of the Nerds Season 2

Our King of the Nerds Season 2 interviews continue as the the show continues with only 4 contestants left.  One of them being Xander.  He has flown under the radar and is strategically making his way to the finals.  Will he manage to win a seat in the Thone of Games?

So far we have really come to enjoy Xander on the show.  He always seems to be kind, supportive and in good spirits (usually singing).  Maybe it’s part of his plan to create bonds close enough to stay on the show or maybe that’s just Xander in real life?

Let’s take a peek at his answers to our interview and you can be the judge!

1. How does it feel to be picked to be on King of the Nerds?

It’s absolutely amazing. There are so many phenomenal nerds out there in the world, and I hope that I can represent my small corner of nerdoms to the best of my abilities!

2. Why do you think you will be “The King of the Nerds”?

I have a positive attitude and a breadth of knowledge that covers all the nerd “basics”. Plus, I’m creative and can think on my feet, so this combination of skills lends itself well to a competitive environment!

3. What is your favorite part of Nerdvana?

The people! Nerdvana is completely made by the nerds. There is also the sweet gaming systems. That was pretty cool, too. 😀

4. What is your favorite cartoon?

This is a tough one! I’d have to go with Avatar: The Last Airbender, though right now I’ve been obsessed with Steven Universe and Bravest Warriors as well!

5. What is your favorite food?

Bread pudding, hands down. I love the stuff.

6. What is your job? Do you like it? Why or why not?

I own my own media company! I do graphic design work, editing for the web, and translation (Japanese). I love my life!

7. What are your hobbies?

(no answer given)

8. What is your favorite animal? Do you have pets?

My favorite animal is the wolf, it has the ferociousness when it’s cornered, but it’s a fun-loving dog when it comes down to it. I have one cat, named “Nyan-Nyan” (‘meow meow’ in Japanese)

9. Have you ever failed a test?

There may be a few math tests that I didn’t do so well on…

10. Can you speak a different language?

Yes! I speak fluent Japanese

11. What were you for Halloween last year?

I dressed up as a pirate and painted the “Internet Explorer” logo on my cheek, so I was an “Internet Pirate”! (get it?)

12. Do you play any sports?

I dance! I take hip hop classes and have taught a traditional form of Japanese dance called “Yosakoi”

13. Who is your best friend in Nerdvana?

I really got along with everyone, but shared a special connection with Mary Kate.

14. What advice do you have for young kids in school?

Be open to new subjects! You never know if you’re going to be interested in a subject until you give it a fair shot. You’ll be surprised at how many things are interconnected.
