I don’t typically write about things like phones very often here on Daily Dish Magazine but when I dropped my phone recently chasing my daughters ball down the street, it shattered into about a million little pieces and of course, the all too familiar story, my contract wasn’t due for an upgrade which would make purchasing a new smartphone under my current plan a ridiculous amount of money. So we decided to turn to to Walmart Best Plans for the lowest priced unlimited plans. We had used phone plans like this in the past and thought it might be time to switch back and try them again. A great way to stretch that tax refund!
Getting set up was simple. I visited my local Walmart store and found the display of phones easily in the technology section along side video games, televisions, movies, etc… The Walmart Family Plan phones were clearly marked and they had a great selection.
I decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit phone for $99.00. A smart phone for under $100 is a great deal!
To get it set up, you also need the starter kit that includes the SIM card needed to activate the phone.
Once I was home, I opened up the packages and logged into My Family Mobile to get started. All I needed to do was insert the phone battery and SIM card, enter the activation numbers from the phone and starter kit and I was assigned a phone number. When turning on the phone it walked me through setting up my phone preferences and linking my existing google account to access the smartphone app store and that was it! It literally took me maybe 20 minutes at most (with the kids distracting me through the process).
Now the only problem I have is my kids keep trying to steal my new Exhibit for themselves! It is a great size and fits easily into the pocket inside my purse.
Walmart also has plenty of options to accessorize your new phones with an assortment of car chargers, screen protectors, covers, and headphones. I chose to pick up the car charger and some new headphones, the two items that are a must for me!
All in all, it was an easy experience and very affordable. At just $29.88 for unlimited talk and text or $39.88 for unlimted talk, text & Web (up to 2.5GB of 3G data) it is a perfect fit for me. You can cancel anytime without penalty and if you break your phone, just go to Walmart and pick up a new one! So far the cell service and coverage has been flawless. I would definitely recommend this phone for anyone who does not want to be committed in a long term contract.
