Thanksgiving After the Celebration: Planning the Next Event

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

Tonight or at least in the next few days, after everyone has gone home, it is time to take a look at your Thanksgiving dinner and decide what went well and what didn’t as well as take inventory before your next event.  And, maybe even more importantly, make a list, so you will be ready for your next event.  Here are some things you might want to look at:

What went well?  From seating arrangements, to center pieces, to new recipes, what did you like about your event?  And what do you want to remember to do again next time.

What didn’t go so well?  Maybe you didn’t know two people really shouldn’t sit next to each other or that someone has an aversion or worse, an allergy to something you you made.  Write it down, because you may not remember next year.  Did that casserole take 10 minutes longer than the recipe says?  Make a note on the recipe, so you will remember.

Take inventory.  Did anything get broken that you need to replace?  Was there something that you couldn’t find or didn’t have that you needed?  Now is the time to find these things or replace them or buy them if you need to.  Don’t rely on your memory.  Trust me, you won’t remember, and it is better to take care of it now, or at least write it down to take care of soon than to be scurrying before your next event!

In short, reflect upon your day and make written notes to make your next event your best one yet!
