When my oldest daughter turned 6 years old, we decided to get her a puppy. We rescued her from a dog shelter and brought her home. It didn’t take long for our little Brittney to become a true member of our family. She follows us around keeping her eye on everyone and makes sure she keeps everything in check. She definitely is our family protector but as time moves on, she’s starting to slow down a bit and showing her “senior” status!
One of the things our now 8 year old pup looks forward to is her trips to PetSmart. She looks forward to jumping in the back seat with the kids for her adventure! Today we are heading out to pick up Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND dog food. Since she is aging and dogs are considered seniors at age 7, we are transitioning her food to keep her mind as healthy as her body. You know how important food is to us here at Daily Dish Magazine, and we think it should be equally as important for the furry members of our family!
When dogs hit the “senior” milestone, experts at Purina Pro Plan have found that glucose metabolism in the brain changes. This may lead to changes in memory, learning, awareness and decision making. So what does that mean? Well by adding in enhanced botanical oils, Purina Pro Plan has found a way to promote alertness and mental sharpness with nutrition. With several varieties for small breeds and large breeds as well as flavors. Your dog is sure to find exactly what he/she needs.
With an estimated 87 million dogs in the U.S. and an estimated 44 million of those being over age 7, there is a high demand for quality nutrition for our beloved pets. By feeding your dog Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND found at PetSmart as part of their daily diet, you might notice differences in owner-dog interaction, your dogs interest in playing and the his/her ability to adapt and cope with change as other dog owners have.
We made the switch and slowly transitioned her dog food by gradually increasing the Purina Pro Plan (we bought a few varieties but opted for the small breed variety for Brittney) and decreasing her current dog food. This allows her not only to adjust to the new flavor and texture of her food but allows her body to adjust to the new nutrition as well. It’s important to switch slowly as to not upset your pups digestive system.
Brittney loved her trip to PetSmart as usual since everyone always has to stop and pet her and give her puppy loves and really did well with the switch. She seems to really love the Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND. We are already noticing some changes in her! Be sure to check back in with us in 10 days when I talk about how Brittney responded to the new food and the positive changes in her life!
Do YOU have a dog 7 years or older? Have you tried Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND? Tell us about your pup and if you want to try making the switch!
I’m eager to hear more about Brittney’s new food. We have two older pups in our house, and this food could be good for them! #client
