Summertime is here and for our family, that means busy days followed by fun nights on the patio. We are always pulling together patio parties at the last minute to gather with friends and family to enjoy good company, great food, and games. The back porch also tends to be where all our teens and college age kids tend to gather as well to hang out, do summer school homework, and catch up. There is never a shortage of people hanging around!
To make my life easier on these busy days when I know a full hungry party awaits on the patio, I rely on fast and easy solutions. One of my favorites is the awesome ready-made sushi bar at our local Fred Meyer store. I can find everything I need to pull together the perfect patio party in less than 15 minutes!
It’s a quick stop to grab what I need and go. I first head to the produce/deli section to grab the sushi.
There are SO many options and as you can see, it’s super fresh being made right there in the store. I grab a bagged ready to mix chopped salad and pre-sliced watermelon.
Then I head off to the checkout area where I grab a colorful bouquet of flowers and some 20oz. bottles of Diet Coke® from the refrigerated coolers to accompany dinner. These are the perfect size to grab for one or to share, they are already cold to make serving easier, and the flavor pairs so nicely with the sushi options!
That’s it… everything I need to pull together a fast and easy dinner to entertain whoever arrives!
I could just go ahead and serve it as is in the containers they came in… but why not let them think you are super talented and whipped up all these goodies on your own (Shhhh…. I won’t tell!) I plate them up to make it look beautiful and set it up buffet style so everyone can grab what they like whenever they arrive.
Doesn’t all this sushi, dragon rolls, dumplings, and salad rolls look so pretty and delicious!
Tip: Keep your Diet Coke bottles cool by placing them in a bowl of ice and offer glasses so guests can pour a small glass if they choose rather than a full bottle.
The sauces and sides are one of my favorite parts of this dinner so don’t forget to plate those up as well!

Dinner is ready… as usual, the “growing” college kids needed to dig in first!
But no worries, there’s still plenty for everyone else.
I’ll just sit back and sip on my Diet Coke while I wait for them to fill themselves up first!
I really love that you can provide a high-quality meal so quick and easy. It reduces my stress after a long busy day to just be able to come home and not worry about cooking.
