Have you ever gone to grab a packet or bottle of seasoning to use in a recipe
and bam…you’re all out?
I have! I was making tacos for dinner one night and realized I was all
out of taco seasoning packets.
Here are a few homemade versions of popular spices you would normally
purchase at the grocery store…and they’ll help you save money too!
Taco Seasoning
- 1 Tablespoon chili powder
- 1 Tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 Tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 Tablespoon crush red pepper.
Homemade Ranch Dressing
- 1 TBS. Dried Dill Weed
- 1 TBS. Dried Parsley
- 1 TBS. Garlic Powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
Combine ingredients and store in an air-tight container. Then add one tablespoon of the dry mix to 1 cup sour cream and enough buttermilk to get the dressing to the consistency you like. Mix and serve immediately over tossed salad.
Homemade Season Salt
- 1/4 cup kosher salt
- 4 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
Combine ingredients and store in an air-tight container. Use to season chicken, steak or vegetables before grilling.
Cinnamon Sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Combine ingredients and store in an air-tight container for up to six months.
