GRANOLA…
Who doesn’t love a nice bowl of this delicious treat for breakfast or sprinkled upon some yogurt?
My family loves granola, but for a few years I had stopped purchasing it because of the price.
It’s EXPENSIVE!
Until I came across this GREAT recipe for Homemade Granola…
Ingredients:
Dry Ingredients:
3 cups oats
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cup coconut
Wet Ingredients:
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup honey
1/6 cup water (which is 2 TBS plus 2 tsps.)
1 tsp. vanilla
In a large bowl, combine the oats and nuts…
Add the 1/2 cup of coconut…
Next, combine the wet ingredients and add to the
oats, nuts and coconut mixture…
Stir to combine.
Put the entire mixture into a 9 X 13 pan or a large baking sheet
that has been lined with foil and sprayed…
Bake at 350 for TEN minutes.
Then take the pan out of the oven and stir the mixture…
Then return the pan to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
Take the pan out and stir again.
You will keep doing this until the granola is nice and brown.
Set your timer!
Because, you could forget and end up with a
huge mess on your hands.
NOT that that’s ever happened to me!
Do you see it getting brown by the edges?
That’s GOOD!
Keep mixing and return the pan back to the oven…
Baking time for our granola was a total of 30 minutes…
Doesn’t that look DELICIOUS…
Let your granola continue to “dry” out on the counter.
You can keep it in the same pan for a few hours before
storing it in an air-tight container…
At this point, you can add some yummies…
Dried fruit
Sunflower seeds
Mini chocolate chips
Be creative!
My husband LOVES this granola.
He loves to pour a few tablespoons on top of a bowl of regular dry cereal
or even to a bowl of hot oatmeal.
But he really enjoys it with the yogurt I give him most mornings
for his breakfast that he eats at the university after he does PT with the cadets…
YUMMY TIP:
A great way to enjoy this granola is to warm up some applesauce in the microwave
and add a few tablespoons of homemade granola and enjoy a nice warm treat!
Enjoy your day!
This looks delicious and was a great thing to share on the Foodie Friends Friday Linky Party!
YES PLEASE! I love homemade granola. I just had some on top of yogurt as a snack last night. Your recipe looks so yummmy.
