Food Dictionary: Reduce

Food Dictionary is back!  What cooking terms do you have questions about? Please feel free to ask any time and we will find your answer.

Today we will talk about “Reduce“.   This is a common term especially this time of year when we are all busy cooking our comfort foods!

To “Reduce” is to bring a liquid to a low boil and let it continue to “boil down” to reduce the total volume.   This typically concentrates your flavors making for a better tasting dish!

You might see this term when cooking soups, stews and sauces.

What recipes have you made that you “reduced” your liquid?
