Taste the Place Dinner - Skamania Lodge

Hidden in the thick evergreens overlooking the Columbia River Gorge in Washington State, the Skamania Lodge sits inviting guests to come in for an extraordinary vacation retreat.  I had the pleasure of visiting for one of the feature events, Taste the Place.  This monthly 3 hour dinner pairs local wine makers and Skamania chef to delight you with local flavors.

The Taste the Place menu for August 2015 paired Columbia River Gorge winery, Aniche Cellars, with local Chef Matt’s culinary creations. They source the ingredients locally to provide you with the best possible dishes.

On the menu for this Taste the Place Dinner was Heirloom Tomato Bisque with 2013 Shelob, Summer Panzanella with 2014 Tzippy, Cornish Game Hen with Moth Love and finished with a Fig Clafoutis Tart paried with 2012 Lizzy.

The food and wine were all perfectly paired and present to explain the ingredients and wine choices were both Chef Matt and the wine maker herself from Aniche Cellars.  This is what really made the night special.  Getting to know what inspired them and how they made their choices is wonderful for food and wine lovers alike.

The price of the dinner is more than reasonable for the quality of food and heavy poured wonderful glasses of wine.

To fully enjoy the dinner, I suggest making weekend reservations to stay and play as well.  Along with variety of gourmet meals available, you can enjoy a round of golf, swimming, zip lining or a spa treatment.  A perfect getaway for young and old alike. Send the kids off to play while you enjoy a nice adult evening dining!

You still have time to book your reservation for 2015 Taste the Place events:

October 18th featuring Garnier Vineyards

December 20th featuring L’Ecole No 41

You won’t regret it!

Thank you to the Skamania Lodge for hosting  family overnight at the lodge and inviting us to try the Taste the Place dinner.  All opinions expressed are my own.
