It’s Football Season! Who loves to tailgate or as we do… “homegate” before game time? Every week family and friends gather on our back porch to share good eats and enjoy some football. One thing we have really become mindful of when friends gather is everyone’s eating preferences. Some friends have allergies, some family members have gluten intolerance, some eat vegetarian, and some are simply trying to watch cholesterol, trying to live a healthier lifestyle, etc… This means we always have a variety of food on hand including some easy and delicious veggie tailgating food!
My favorite way to celebrate football on a Monday night is to do a “Meatless Monday” dinner so everyone can experience how good eating veggie can be. I start by heading to Walmart to find an assortment of MorningStar Farms® brand food from the freezer section that is perfect for game time like MorningStar Farms® Grillers Original Burger which we love to top with the MorningStar Farms® Veggie Pulled Pork, with a side of MorningStar Farms® Buffalo Wings salad. I love how easy the burgers and buffalo wings are to cook outside on the grill while we put the game on the outdoor TV while everyone gathers around the patio heaters!

Making your “homegating” veggie food couldn’t be any easier. I start by throwing the veggie burgers and buffalo wings on the grill on medium-high (oven temperature calls for 375 degrees).
After about 15 minutes, I add the buns to warm them up too! While everything is grilling, I prepare the veggie pulled pork in the microwave. I love this new addition to the MorningStar brand, it’s SO easy and quick!
When everything is done grilling, I bring it inside to finish making my salad.
Then I prepare my Veggie Buffalo Salad. Start with shredded lettuce ( I buy a single bag of shredded iceberg lettuce which is approximately 3 cups) and top it with 3 stalks of celery diced into small pieces.
Add your cooked veggie buffalo wings chopped up into bite-sized pieces.
Toss in some crumbled blue cheese crumbles and stir in some blue cheese dressing.
I set it out just like this and serve up some buffalo wing sauce for those who want to add an extra kick to their salad. I also serve some BBQ sauce alongside the veggie burgers and pulled pork for those who want a little extra BBQ flavor. You can add cheese, sliced onions, tomatoes, etc… as well for toppings. You have plenty of options to make your flavor your own!
