I’ve always been a big fan of Cher. I’ve even dressed up like her for costume parties. See the resemblance? You don’t? That’s OK. 🙂
Seriously, when I was given the opportunity to view an advance copy of Dear Mom, Love Cher I jumped at the chance!

This documentary takes a look at Cher’s mother, Georgia Holt and the incredible closeness she shares with her daughters, Cher and Georganne and her grandchildren.
It’s easy to see where Cher gets her amazing talent and drive to be all she can be; just look at her mother. Georgia, born Jackie Jean in Arkansas started singing when she was 5 years old. By 15 she was singing professionally and by 17 she was a married woman.
But marriage didn’t always agree with Georgia. She gave it 6 tries before deciding that being single was okay.
The up and downs of Georgia’s acting career are mentioned as well as a great deal of personal information about Cher’s childhood.
At 50 Gerogia was persuaded to pursue her dream of singing professionally. Her partner at the time convinced her to cut a record. How could she say no, she had Elvis’s band playing backup.
This 86 year-old woman can still belt out a song beautifully. Included in this DVD is a duet with Cher. It’s amazing how well their voices blend.
I found Dear Mom, Love Cher to be funny and heartwarming. Cher and her family share personal stories both blissful and tragic as only close-knit family can. There are many pictures of Cher and her family to illustrate the bond this talented lady has with her family.
Included are interviews with her grandsons Chaz and Elijah Blue. Rare TV footage of Georgia are also featured.
I recommend this highly entertaining DVD documentary whether you are a Cher fan or not, you will enjoy it.
Dear Mom, LoveCher arrives on DVD September 24 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment for the suggested retail price of $14.98.
