Cucumber Salad

An old family recipe that’s still as good as when my Oma made it!


  • 2 large cucumbers
  • 2 TBS Vinegar
  • 2 TBS. Sour Cream
  • 2 TBS. Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. Sugar (or more if needed)
  • pepper
  • salt
  • Chopped Chives or chopped red onion


  1. Using a mandolin or sharp knife, slice the cucumbers very thin.
  2. Layer the cucumbers in a colander, salting the layers.
  3. Let the cucumbers drain for a while…up to a few hours.
  4. Squeeze the cucumbers dry before adding the dressing.
  5. In a small mixing bowl, combine the dressing ingredients together.
  6. Add the cucumbers, chives or chopped red onion and mix.
  7. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
