Garbage disposals rock, they make the process of cleaning dishes so much easier and are a really stress-free way of getting rid of the food scraps. However, they tend to be, mmm smelly to say the least.

Actually, they smell so funny that the other day I was at home deep cleaning everything because there was a funny smell coming out of the kitchen and I couldn’t quite point where it was coming from. The culprit? Yep, you guessed it. The garbage disposal.

From that moment I was on a mission to find a good solution. Or at least a good workaround. I needed to find a way that made the process of getting rid of that smell as pain-free as possible and that’s when I discovered these refresher tabs.

The idea behind them is really easy, you mix a couple of ingredients together, let them dry overnight and then just pop one into your garbage disposal when you feel like it. Best thing? You can play with the scents as much as you like and since we are in winter and cozy things are a must I went with chai latte.

You just need a combo of spices, some baking soda, salt and a good pour of vinegar. Mix everything till you have a thick paste and then just give them the shape you want. You can use a cupcake pan, some silicone molds or even a spoon and your hands.

Leave them to dry overnight and once they are hard (or at least look harder and set) pop them out and place them into an airtight container.

To say that they work wonders is a total understatement! The smell is just, simply put amazing, and they really get rid of all the stuck bits that get left behind, so you are not only refreshing your garbage disposal but also kind of deep cleaning it.
