Memorial Day is Monday, May 25th…
A day when we remember all the brave men and women who gave their lives
for the freedom of our country.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
Did you know that each year at 3:00 p.m. a national moment of remembrance takes place.
Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials,
holding family gatherings and participating in parades.
Unofficially, it marks the beginning of summer and barbecues…

Memorial Day is a very special day and I always remember my dad marching in the VFW parade every year. To this day he looks for a parade in his area that he can watch from the sidelines, it means a lot to him. Thanks for sharing this post with all these delicious recipes for the start of the BBQ season and including one of my recipes.
Joanne
Growing up in NYC we didn’t go to any Memorial Day parades, but I marched in the Brooklyn/Queens Day Parade every year until high school when they stopped having one. I even played in the band. Our daughter was in the parade one year here in town and it was a lot of fun to go down and watch her. It was a much smaller parade, but fun. Need to see if our town is having another parade on Monday! Thanks for sharing your recipe and memories Joanne!
