I live next door to my my whole family. We see each other every day. Some may think I’m crazy but I say we are so blessed. The saying, “It takes a village” is so true and everyday I’m thankful that my village is here with me. It’s pretty common for all us to gather at the end of a long day and talk. Even the kids hang out with their friends on the patio (which when they are a bunch of teens is an amazing feat!) What better way to celebrate life than to kick back and enjoy a few cocktails with friends and family.
Tonight we made a run down to our nearest market, Albertsons, and picked up a few things for our gathering. We had some other friends coming over so we decided to try some new recipes using Jameson Irish Whiskey and Malibu Rum. We stocked up on some mixers like 7-up, Squirt, Ginger Ale and some lime and raspberries. Typically we’ll just put them all out on the bar and let everyone mix and match how they choose.
I tried two combos tonight and they were both very good and very different. One a fruity tropical ginger ale cocktail and the other a citrusy whiskey. On any given day, I don’t typically pick whiskey as my first choice, but I really loved the whiskey cocktail tonight!
We had a blast mixing, trying each others creations, chatting about the week and our upcoming party while the kids hung out in the hammock, played volleyball, and just had fun outside. I wouldn’t trade this life for anything right now. We are truly blessed to be able to celebrate life everyday with the ones we love. It doesn’t have to be a formal occasion. The occasion is we are all here together and one day that won’t be so. Enjoy it everyday while you can and savor the wonderful memories you are making!
