Boomtown Wines ~ Washington State Wine

You know I’m a big fan of Washington State Wine.  I live in the heart of Washington State Wine Country and love to try the wines from this area.  I was excited when my last package came and I opened it to find Boomtown from Dusted Valley Vintners.  They are located about 40 minutes from my home and have a reputation for some BIG reds!

I was given Boomtown Syrah and Boomtown Cabernet Sauvignon to try.  (all opinions expressed are 100% my own honest thoughts)  Both are made in the acclaimed Walla Walla Valley, known for producing world class wines.

Boomtown Wines

The Boomtown line is, “A throwback to the energetic Roaring 20’s.  Boomtown embodies the spirit of American Progress”, “LIke the Americans that paved the way for accessibility in the Roaring 20’s, our family is blazing trails for the discovery and enjoyment of Washington wines around the world.” ~ Dusted Valley Vintners.

I find that statement to be true as these and other wines from Dusted Valley are unique and bold wines that do embody the special flavors I only experience in Washington State.

The 2009 Boomtown Cabernet Sauvignon is 94% Cab and 6% Petit Verdot with an alcohol level of 14.2%.  Aged in 40% New Oak: 70% French and 30% American.  It has a nice bold black fruit forward flavor followed by a smooth finish.  I love the color and smell of this wine. I found this was easy to sip on while I was cooking with a bit of sliced meats, cheese and veggies.  It will transition nicely right into dinner.   Understandibly, this vintage has won several awards year after year.

  • 2009 Vintage ~ Year’s best Cabernet 2011 & Best Buy from Wine & Spirits.
  • 2009 Vintage ~ Top 100 Domestic Values & 88 points from Wine Spectacular
  • 2009 Vintage ~ 88 Points Wine Enthusiast
  • 2007 Vintage ~ 90 Points Wine & Spirits
  • 2007 Vintage ~ 90 Points Wine Enthusiast

The 2008 Boomtown Syrah is my personal favorite.  96% Syrah, 2.4% Mourvedre, 1.6% Barbera with a 14.6% alcohol level.  This wine is deep in color with aromas of vanilla and spice.  You get the rich bold flavors of blackberry with the warm vanilla and spice on the palate.  A full wine with a smooth finish.  I most definitely pick this wine to serve with my ribeyes.

It too has earned several awards:

  • 2008 Vintage ~ 89 Points Top 100 Domestic Value Wine Spectacular
  • 2008 Vintage ~ Best Buy Wine Press Northwest
  • 2007 & 2006 Vintage ~ Gold at Seattle Wine Awards
  • 2006 Vintage ~ Critics Pick Wine & Spirits
  • 2005 Vintage ~ 90 Points Top 100 Domestic Value Wine & Spirits

Dusted Valley continues to cultivate spectacular wines and has been named Hot Small Brands from Wine Business Monthly and Top 9 American Value Brands from Wine & Spirits.  This means you can get great wines at a reasonable price.  The Boomtown line runs $12-16 and is worth every penny!
