Start in New Bern for a historic look at Tryon Palace the first capital and later governors mansion, see Fort Totten park and Battlefield Park, along with Cedar Grove cemetery. Drive 45 minutes to Greenville to visit College View Historic district, ECU, River Park North a 324 acre natural area and Green Mill Run a pleasant 3.5 mile trail. Next head to Rocky Mount part of Potters trail, see the mills, circa 1830 Stonewall Manor and a 3.9 mile Tar River Trail. Speaking of Tar River, head to tarboro and see Daniel’s Schoolhouse where a two hour hellfire battle left six bluecoats killed and 18 captured.
