Go Red for Women
Heart Disease is the Number 1 killer for Women.
February 7th is National Wear Red Day and Go Red for Women.
February is American Heart Month and how perfect is that the month when we celebrate love. We need to remember our own heart and those of others and protect them and prevent heart disease. Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer for women… Number one, even higher then cancer. It is important for women to realize their risk and take steps to decrease them. Over the years, women have become more aware of this but it is still lagging in young women and minorities.
To increase awareness, February 7th has become Wear Red Day and 2014 is the 11th year of Go Red for Women to help increase the knowledge of heart disease. Red is a colour that stands out. We see it. It may give us confidence and make us powerful. It is also the colour of our heart. So wear red today, with confidence knowing that you know about heart disease and want to share what you know. American Heart Association can give you more information about heart disease in women, risks and living healthy.
Go Red for Women Organization has a Go Red Challenge, upload your pictures to instagram or twitter with the hashtag #GoRedChallenge.
